Workplace Design Trends: Height Adjustable Desks

During our visit to NeoCon 2023, the hub for the commercial design community, our DKORistas made note of some workplace design trends that really stood out.

Among them were height-adjustable desks. It made perfect sense to us, because they offer comfort and ergonomic solutions in addition to aesthetics, all of which has become a priority in today’s workspace.

This new trend in the office furniture world was on display in many of the commercial brands’ booths. We viewed quite a few desks with adjustable systems that make them very practical for day-to-day office tasks.

But what exactly is an adjustable desk? They are desks that provide users with the option to shift the height, allowing the users to switch between sitting and standing positions as needed throughout the day.

COMFORT AND HEALTH

Adjustable desks are more than just a workplace design trend. They serve a real need in a market driven by the growing demand from users, not just those working from home, but also corporations with both big and small offices.

Adjustable desks provide the comfort workers need during long workdays, contributing to their health by helping with circulation, relieving back pain, and more. Just think about it! Isn’t it a great way to take a break from sitting all day?

Many furniture brands are now offering an electric system that makes this ergonomic option very easy to use. With just the push of a button, users can adjust their desk height in seconds!

OUR TWO FAVORITE BRANDS

HALCON

One of our favorite brands showcasing this exciting workplace design trend at NeoCon was HALCON, which offers beautiful office systems that feature elegant details and finishes.

The Halo office system is a prime example of timeless design, not only because it offers a variety of finishes, but also because of the delicate and elegant way it incorporates the adjustable height controls into the system. The details in the design are really beautiful and truly stand out.

HAWORTH

Haworth also offers an adjustable height system for a desk configuration designed for more than one person, allowing users to break away from the typical co-working seating arrangements we have seen in the past. We thought it was really cool!

We love this trend in office design because we have found that these options help us achieve our goal when designing commercial spaces: to improve the physical environments of our clients by addressing their needs with style.

Solutions such as adjustable desks impact not only the wellness aspect of interior design, but also the productivity and health of workers.

We also appreciate how these options open the door to creativity by rethinking typical office layouts, giving us more opportunities to create spaces that truly connect with our commercial clients.
