The Importance of Acoustics in Workspace Design
If you read our June blog, our favorites booths from NeoCon 2023, you already know that when our amazing design team attended NeoCon 2023, much of their focus was on commercial design.
Our DKORistas returned to our interior design office in Miami with lots of inspiration from the show, and armed with new insight into how to create the ideal workspace design. In this blog, we pass what they learned along to you.
When designing the perfect workspace, there are certain factors to be taken into consideration. We have already shared some useful tips on designing an experimental office space with purpose. But today, our commercial interior designers highlighted some of the key elements to take into account in workspace design.
We emphasized the importance of a functional and flexible layout, one that combines elements of both privacy and openness. This type of design is the solution to creating an office space in which team members can find both privacy and collaborative areas where they can easily interact with one another.
However, regardless of whether it’s a private or collaborative area, there is a crucial element that significantly impacts the productivity and comfort of employees: acoustics.
The acoustics of a workspace play a vital role in creating an environment that promotes focused work and effective collaboration, offering a range of benefits that include increased productivity, improved communication, and reduced stress caused by noise in the office.
ACOUSTIC SOLUTIONS
In today’s workspaces, open-concept offices with fewer walls and more shared areas are very popular. That’s why having acoustic solutions is a must-have for any company looking to create a productive atmosphere. It’s a factor that is often overlooked when designing office spaces.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
During our visit to Neocon 2023, we observed that acoustic solutions for co-working spaces emerged as a prominent trend. Companies showcased a variety of stylish and innovative solutions, demonstrating the increasing importance of creating a harmonious acoustic environment in shared workspace designs.
By staying on top of the trends and exploring fresh approaches, our commercial designers make sure that the spaces they create not only look great, but also provide a productive environment for people working in coworking and office setups.
FAVORITE BOOTH
LoftWall has emerged as a valuable resource for achieving acoustic goals in commercial projects. Their applications include ceilings, walls, and free-standing dividers. We were impressed by how they added texture and depth to the space with their offerings.
One particular product that caught our attention was their acoustical baffle ceiling systems, which are ideal for offices, hospitals, and schools. We were pleased to learn that they are made in the USA and can be shipped quickly, making them suitable for projects with short lead times.
If you would like to explore their booth and see our favorite applications, we suggest visiting their website.
THE SKY COLLECTION
The Sky Collection was one of our favorite applications, because it effectively resolved acoustic challenges while also highlighting specific areas within a commercial space, all without the need for creating physical walls.
This collection provides an innovative solution for maintaining a sense of openness and visual flow, while still offering acoustic benefits. It is the balance of functionality and design that allows us as designers to add a touch of style to the corporate spaces we create.
