Why We Love Interior Sliding Doors

The functionality of interior sliding doors goes beyond closing off rooms; they are one of the most prominent visual design elements in a home. The types of doors you install can make a huge impact on your home’s overall aesthetic and functionality. There are many interior door types to choose from, so the decision comes down to style and function. That’s why we love incorporating interior sliding doors.

Modern interior sliding doors are a perfect solution to efficiently divide rooms and spaces in a creative way. Sliding doors can create a seamless connection to multiple areas, while also adding beauty to the interior of a home.

As Miami-based interior designers, we like to use interior sliding doors when space is limited for swinging doors (they are an incredible space-saving solution!), when we want to create a sleek connection between rooms or to simply add an original design touch. Modern sliding doors provide lots of design possibilities since they can be made of different materials, which is a great way to make a statement in your home.

Another thing we love about sliding doors is the open flow they create between spaces, while also providing flexibility by letting us decide when to close off areas if needed.

At this 8,000-square-foot home in Hallandale Beach, Florida, our interior designers decided to divide the kitchen from the common spaces, like the living and dining room, with an elegant solution: floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors. We love the modern and timeless look.

This Sunny Isles condo had an open-concept kitchen/dining space that our clients loved. But they wanted the ability to separate the eating area from the kitchen to keep the sounds and smell of cooking away from the social spaces. We installed interior sliding doors to give them that option. The panels are solid wood with a light tone.

FAMILY ROOM DOORS

Family room with interior sliding doors

Find out more about this design on this blog post. We installed sliding doors to block off the den from the rest of the open-concept space. The doors, a wood shade reminiscent of classic mid-century modern design, play perfectly with the brass light fixture.

Here we used slatted wood sliding doors between the living room and family room of our Modern Eclectic Home project, connecting the spaces while also creating privacy.

HOME BAR DESIGN WITH SLIDING DOORS

The home bar space in this condo was right in the entry foyer, and the clients did not want the bar to be so prominent when they walked into the apartment. Our design team created a hidden modern home bar design with sliding doors to completely close it off from view. Rimadesio sliding doors were the perfect solution, not just because they’re functional, but because they match the modern style throughout the home. See more about this home bar design.

When entering this home in Coral Gables, FL, the family room was immediately to the right. White wooden slatted doors were installed to separate the space. We love the fun and unexpected factor when opening the clean white modern doors and seeing the pop of color in the family room.
