Modern and Sophisticated Boy Nursery Decor

Designing a curated, tropical-inspired residence in Fort Lauderdale for a young couple with a bundle of joy on the way was a job fit for our DKORistas! The final product turned out so well, in fact, that it made the cover of Palm Beach + Broward’s Luxe Interiors + Design magazine earlier this summer. While we loved designing this entire home, one of the best parts of this project was working on the boy nursery decor, for the clients’ newborn son.

Our goal was to create a functional space for them and the baby with all the essentials they’d need to enjoy the room while sticking to the home’s design concept, “tropical festival of life.” The outcome was absolutely perfect — take a look below.

DESIGN INTENT — BOY NURSERY DECOR

Our DKORistas had some great baby room ideas to create a serene and bright space.

Part of the vision was to create a pop of color with wallcovering on one wall to lighten up the space and tie into the tropical theme. We also thought oak wood furniture would be the perfect addition to this boy nursery decor, as it’s light and sophisticated. A comfy chair for feeding and rocking, plus minimalist bookshelves, add functional touches, and fun accessories make the space feel homey.

The final look of this boy nursery decor scheme turned out flawlessly — simple and understated yet sophisticated for the clients in their new home. The space is functional and stylish and will work perfectly for the young family.

To make the nursery modern and chic, we chose unique pieces at an array of price points from brands like Pokkadots, Oeuf New York, Pottery Barn Kids, Anthropologie and Lulu & Georgia.

The standout element — the wallpaper from Cole and Son called Flamingos — is so whimsical and certainly unique. The powder blue background color is perfect for the boy nursery decor theme, plus it ties in with the tropics. An oak crib with white contrast bars is neutral enough to blend in, plus its streamlined silhouette is perfect for this couple’s refined taste.

A rug in neutral tones will grow with the baby into his big kid room, and textural accents, like the wicker basket and cozy throw blanket, add a grown-up edge to the space — also great to grow with him. Complete with a spacious bookcase to maximize storage, this side of the nursery was set.

And finally, this cozy corner with a comfy swivel chair and textured, organic-inspired ottoman will be perfect for mom and dad to be comfy during those late-night feedings, and the sleek white dresser acts as storage for all of baby’s clothes. Place a changing pad on top and it could even serve a dual purpose as a changing table as well!

Boy Nursery DecorWe were so honored that our clients entrusted us to create this special room in their home — our baby room ideas were just what they requested. If you loved this boy nursery decor, make sure to check back for the reveal of the rest of the residence.
