We recently shared with you the prism-inspired design concept for a decorating project we’re completing for a young family in South Miami, Florida. In the middle of our design process, the family learned they’d be growing by one, so we hopped to it and created a nursery for this special little one. We’re so excited to share our designs for the kids’ rooms (nursery and older brother’s bedroom) with you today!
Kids’ Rooms – Nursery
We’ve really got our heads in the clouds on this one! An ethereal, sky-inspired design meets the home’s prism concept in a beautiful, totally modern way in this nursery. For the nursery’s focal point, the back wall is covered in gray starry night wallpaper; then, as if a prism was shone on the wall, two gray triangles intersect over the wallpaper. This effect is mirrored on the wall opposite the crib and glider.
The room’s color scheme matches the rest of the home, infusing softer shades of lapis and emerald into the room. And cloud details found all over the room, from the rug to the mobile to a neon light, are a subtle reminder for this new little one to dream big.
Big Brother’s Room
The sky theme found in the nursery grows up a bit in this little kid’s room. Star pillows and cloud shelves nod to the theme, while similar large-scale prism-inspired accent walls dominate the space. A white-and-gray wallcovering behind the bed also mirrors the rest of the home’s prism scheme.
A playful mix of patterns is successful in this space because of the balanced scale and similar color schemes. Several play areas, from the roll of paper above the desk to the kid-sized table, ensure that the little boy can play to his heart’s content in this chic space.
Since this is a decorating project, we’ll be able to share photos of the finished product with you soon. Stick around!
