Before and After: A Contemporary Coral Gables Dream Home
We could not be more thrilled with the transformation of this Coral Gables Dream Home. The balanced design concept and sleek color palette of chic grays, ocean blues, and natural finishes breathe fresh air into this young family’s home.
Don’t the “afters” just make you feel more relaxed and at home? Scroll through to see what we mean!
Coral Gables Dream Home Reveal
Living Room
The black-framed windows draw your eyes outside to the lush backyard, making the room feel larger and more inviting. But once you land back inside the room, you’ll notice the concept of balance is everywhere: from the central location of the fireplace to how the polished marble and natural wood complement each other over the fireplace.
If you look closely, you can see a hint of the entryway decor to the right of the living room. Get a peek at the full look in our furniture and lighting selections post. Trust us, it’s good. You’re gonna want to see it.
Black-and-white accents can be found around the room, mirroring the wall color and window frame combo, while a deep indigo rug grounds the seating arrangement. We love the unique chandelier that replaced a standard ceiling fan–it adds much-needed sparkle to the space.
Dining Room
What was once a too-traditional and cramped dining room has become a contemporary masterpiece that feels spacious and stylish. The round table was replaced by a rectangular one that can seat more guests, and where a classic candle chandelier once was a wow-worthy gathering of IC S pendants now draws attention.
But possibly the most important update was the removal of a wall that cut off the dining area from the entryway and the living room. A room divider now offers separation without disconnecting the spaces.
Kitchen
The kitchen by Mia Cucina is a night-and-day transformation. Where pale wood upper cabinets once created a heavy and blocky feel, taupe cabinets now offer a sense of openness. Warm wood lower cabinets ground the mostly open space.
Family Room
Talk about a cool family hangout space. The mid-century modern-inspired sectional provides plenty of space for the whole fam to kick back and relax, while the oversized wall art lends lots of cheeky personality.
The concept of balance and the peaceful color scheme continue to influence each room. Here, blues pop on the Verve rug and decorative accents, while two chairs balance out the sectional’s chaise.
Breakfast Nook
The removal of the plantation shutters revealed a picture-perfect nook in which we could create a casual family dining spot with an abundance of style. A cluster of black pendants hang above a pairing of classic mid-century pieces: a Lippa round table and Eames Eiffel chairs.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is perhaps the most overlooked space in any home, as many parents focus on the common spaces and kids’ rooms first. This home was no exception. The master bedroom was an oddly cottage-coastal space that didn’t mesh with the rest of the home. Now it’s a contemporary haven, complete with a focal wall of textural wallpaper and an upgraded adjoining master bathroom.
Master Bathroom
We want to hop right into that soaking tub and never get out. Don’t you? A pair of garden stools next to the tub make it easy to set a book, or a glass of wine, within arm’s reach, while two vanities allow everyone to have their own personal space. This new master bathroom offers plenty of amenities and space for two people to get ready.
