As a company we have always been driven by our desire to build a team that has a strong foundation and a defined purpose. We understand the importance of creating a positive and nurturing work culture and how it can boost our team members’ morale.

Over time, we have learned that trust encourages people to capitalize on their talent and knowledge, and helps to build teamwork. We believe that attitude plays a big role when it comes to building a work culture as well. For this reason, we have always worked to encourage our team to believe in themselves to help them achieve their utmost.

As an interior design team, we are passionate about what we do and we want to transmit that feeling to our clients. We formed DKOR back in 2004 when we had the vision of building a team of self-motivated individuals.

We quickly realized how important it was to keep their motivation alive and give them a sense of achievement through a positive company culture. One of our greatest accomplishments as a company was to create a workplace that people can call “home”.

Creating an environment of belonging and employee recognition was our main goal in establishing our workplace culture. Treating our team with love and respect and showing them that we care about their contribution to our interior design firm and who they are as human beings have always been our number one priority.

Making our design firm’s mission and values clear helps us keep our goal in focus and gives each team member a sense of purpose. There is no ‘I’ in the word “team.”

We are who we are because of our team. We respect, we support, we listen, we collaborate. The DKOR team is an empowered, diverse and inclusive group of amazing and talented people. We are accountable to each other for fulfilling our mission. Each one of us feels motivated and connected because we know that what we are doing is making a difference.

Building a strong foundation and teaching our leaders to be mentors to our team was crucial to our success. Communication was a fundamental key in this journey. In order to improve our employee engagement, we usually have leadership meetings twice a week during which we give our honest opinion about what is needed to improve as a company.

We always strive to connect with our team members with meaningful opportunities and create a safe space for trust and communication. Teaching them how to cheer on their employees and be a team player is crucial at DKOR as part of our work culture.

During the year, we love creating team-building activities to enhance positive feelings about our work environment. Spending time together, sharing an experience, or working towards a goal allows bonding to occur more organically.

We also love to celebrate our DKOR birthdays and make each team member feel special. (If you are following us on Instagram, you might know what we are talking about!) By celebrating special occasions and hosting summer parties, we want everyone to feel connected with the rest of the team.

The DKOR team is truly like a family: we are always there for each other, acknowledging the success of each member as both a person and a professional. We take great pride in creating an environment where everyone feels valued and cared for.
