Miami Designers Attend Mexico Design Week 2022

As DKORistas, we love attending design events, where we can visit our vendors and connect with other professionals in the design industry. It’s how we get and stay inspired!

As an international interior design firm based in Miami, we make it a priority to attend a variety of design events in countries around the world. One of our favorites is Design Week Mexico.

Design Week Mexico is a design festival that takes place in various locations across Mexico City each year. This year’s 14th edition began on October 12th with an agenda that included a variety of events. The key events at Mexico Design Week include: “Design House”, “Vision y Tradicion,” “Inédito,” and “Design Dealers.”.

It was a pleasure to attend two of those events at Design Week Mexico in October: “Design House” and “Inédito.” It was an unparalleled opportunity to see so much talent! Also, we get a glimpse of how the creativity of different professionals results in stunning pieces and spaces that are designed with amazing detail. Here, we share with you the experience we had visiting these two design exhibitions.

DESIGN HOUSE – MEXICO DESIGN WEEK

Let’s start by explaining the concept behind “Design House.” This compelling project consists of renovating an existing home with a collaborative approach in which talented professionals in the architecture, interior design, furniture, and landscaping industries joined forces.

The renovation is divided into areas or rooms of the home, with each one becoming a thematic exhibition showcasing the collaborative work of different design studios and local brands.

What we loved the most about this year’s Design House were the creative solutions used to renovate the home. For example, we were fascinated by how the local studio, Comité de Proyectos, painted the existing floor-to-ceiling trellis to create interesting screens.

INEDITO 2022

“Inedito” (“unpublished” in English) is an exhibition that takes place in Espacio CDMX. Each year, “Inedito”, showcases the work of a group of Mexican designers and artisans. It displays new pieces made with different techniques, materials, and processes.

Here we had the opportunity to have a conversation with founding partner Andrea Cesarman, in which she shared with us more about her amazing vision for Design Week Mexico: to support and empower the Mexican creative community by offering a platform on which they can share their amazing work, and to promote design as a tool for development.
