Modern Bedroom Decor Ideas for a Teen Boy
Our Turnberry Sunny Isles project is full of beautiful bedroom decor ideas! Additionally to this elegant girls’ bedroom, we designed a boy’s room that takes sophistication and makes it fun. Our client really wanted the room to have a cohesive vibe while still feeling fresh and functional.
Starting with bare walls, we designed a space with warm wood details, earthy neutrals and soft, cozy textiles. A space designed for work and play, we’ve included both an entertainment area and a desk for school projects. This way, our young client can totally enjoy his space to the fullest. If you need a guy room idea that is elevated and timeless, this project provides the perfect inspiration!
This is room to grow into – one that is ageless, while still being innovative. Some of the details include a Gaudí Bed by Flou, a fiber rug from Exquisite Rugs, and dressers by Jesse.
We also used an incredible microcement wall treatment by Man with a Beard. LED strips cast a warm glow around the room while adjustable bedside sconces make it easy to read in bed. Overall, the room has a minimalist approach with forward-thinking furniture and accessories.
MODERN BEDROOM IDEA – BEFORE
Here, you’ll see the bare bones of the room. While it’s a great space with gorgeous floor to ceiling windows, it needed a lot of work!
HEADBOARD WALL
The large windows are the most stunning feature of this room, so we wanted to make the most of them. We decided to put a desk in the window to provide inspiring views for our client as he works.
BOYS BEDROOM FINAL LOOK
As you can see, there was a huge transition from the before to the after! We started with the elegant wall treatment, which has a lot of texture and a metallic finish. This created an almost cocoon-like atmosphere that set the tone of the room.
From there, we added thick coordinating black-out drapes, the textural rug and white bed linens. While the colors and fabrics are very grounding, we also added floating elements. The wooden nightstand and reading light, for example, make the space feel airy and contemporary. This room is totally lit because of the perfect balance of opposing forces!
As you take in the view from the sleek black desk, you’ll see how we defined this space. There are three main areas: sleep, work, and play. We’ve brought them together through the strategic use of wood, color and geometric shapes – from the sleek headboard to the curves of the desk and overhead light fixture.
Within the wood veneer headboard wall, you’ll see the integrated LED strip that illuminates the room.
What boy’s room is complete without a TV? The designers custom-built this entertainment area to fit the room’s minimal aesthetic.Plus, it makes it easy for our client to watch his favorite shows.
While the room leans towards a more grown-up style, we added a playful touch with this artistic bear sculpture. This photo sums up what this room is all about – modernity and fun.
Here’s a closer look at the wall treatment. It has been handpainted to have a cement-like appearance with a sheen that adds a cozy feeling to the room.
Thanks for taking a look at our latest room design – we hope it has shown you that it is possible to create an elevated teenage bedroom. Be sure to keep following along as we showcase more bedroom decor ideas from our interior design projects!
