The world’s largest annual furniture and design fair is about to start in Milan and we’re amp’d up for lots of inspiration! This is an incredible celebration of design and creativity in the interior design world.

It’s impossible to forget our first taste of international interior design at iSaloni experience back in 2013.  Ever since then a few of our very own hard working design team members are selected for the all expense paid trip to Milan.  We know the trip is an enlightening event for our team to gather inspiration for our current and future residential projects.  Attending this design event is a fundamental part of growth for our designers, and keeps our designs on the cutting edge of trends.

Every April our team is filled with enthusiasm and curiosity in anticipation of who will be going to the event. We all want to know about the new design trends and latest products that will be introduced at the furniture fair! Just imagine, this year on the Milano furniture fair will be over 2000 companies showcasing the very best of their products from furniture, textiles, and accessories.

We have an idea of what to expect but each year is truly an amazing and inspiring experience. Salone Del Mobile is certainly an international reference point for interior designers and design enthusiasts from all over the world.  Visiting the furniture fair annually allows our Miami design firm to be updated on the latest trends.  The designs and products showcased inspire us to keep delivering innovative and beautiful interior design solutions to our clients.

We’ve prepared a special post looking back at our design teams favorite booths from Salone del Mobile Milano 2016. Which one is your favorite?

I knew beforehand iSaloni 2016 will be a lifetime experience full of design ideas I was about to discover. I was amazed at all the new furniture styles, details and color mood same as the way booth architecture were designed to get the home feel, each one with its own personality. But what strike me the most and until this day gives me the goosebumps was the accessory staging.

My favorite design installation at Salone del Mobile 2016 was Poliform’s stand. How impactful an arrangement of pieces really complemented the stunning furniture lines and finishes. The layering of oversized Round and Sharp edges, textured object next to a clear glass, and for a pop of color, a vivid elephant leaf to bring life and character into this beautiful vignette.” – Marianna Cerullo (Lead Interior Designer)

It’s hard to choose just one favorite design installation from Salone del Mobile Milano 2016. Overall, the Milano furniture fair was wonderful and a very inspiring experience. We’re able to discover all the new design trends and get together with design professionals from all around the world.

One of my favorite booths was definitely POLIFORM. I’m a big fan of carpentry details. POLIFORM launched new designs at the furniture show. The pieces feature a modern design and exclusive details with a unique mix of materials. I love to analyze these distinctive design features! Looking over these sophisticated details always inspires me to bring this attention to detail to a bigger scale while designing home interiors.

I adore how they incorporate tinted glass into a wood bookcase and create a seamless transition of materials. Also, the carpentry interior finishes that combine wood with leather. Not only the materials but the reveals and details as a finger pull in 45 degrees to have a very contemporary and clean piece. All these furniture pieces were enhanced by adding the final touch, the accessories! This is something I really liked it too, how they accessorized all the modern furniture pieces to make them unique, overlapping not only objects but also greenery on it.” – Anahi Carrillo (Residential Interior Designer)

iSaloni 2016 was simply breathtaking; so many beautiful booths and amazing products everywhere. It was overwhelming! It’s difficult to choose one favorite booth as there was quite a few that I simply adored! I remember the large Minotti booth being impressive with its two-story design features & its private area on the loft above. The Flexform, another large booth, was also very impressive while staying very cozy, having draped the whole thing with sheer drapery all around. But if I really needed to select one that I absolutely loved, it was the Rimadesio booth and their use of architectural lighting.” – Anouk Faure (Lead Interior Designer)

“I’m a fan of architectural lighting in general but this booth made it work in such an elegant way. It can be challenging to achieve a timeless feel with LED lighting all around a space. Rimadesio had it in every corner and niche and it was simply gorgeous! The light materiality they selected contrasted with the dark carpentry units & sliding doors. Details that the brand featured in surrounding soft textured walls. They used wood slats to add rhythm and texture as well, which with its perfect scale added a beautiful play of light & shadows.

The desk area at the entrance had beautiful light pendants offset from its center, with a large tree to the left, accenting the asymmetry. At Salone del Mobile, the asymmetry was everywhere; they made it feel so effortless! Finallythe booth featured light wood plank ceilings with dark double spots recess lights; it made it feel “lofty” and added that pop of industrial style to make the booth overall look more contemporary and not too transitional.” – Anouk Faure (Lead Interior Designer)
