This April our interior design firm attended the 2017 edition of Coverings, the largest tile and stone show in North America.
We love staying up to date on the newest innovations in tiles and stone. That’s why the annual Coverings show is on our must-attend event list for the past few years. The exhibit is the perfect venue to catch up with top tile trends. Our superstar design team agrees! DKORista’s know it is essential to stay in-the-know on the products for our high-end residential projects. Our clients want what is new, unique, and innovative and we offer lots of options during the material selections.
We’re always looking for the perfect option that meets the specific design and style needs of our clients. DKOR’s design team has been recognized two years in a row for the outstanding design and installation of tile and stone in our residential projects. Our “Contemporary Twilight” project made us “Award Winning Interior Designers at Coverings 2017”.
There were lots of international brands introducing their new modern collections and stylish products at this year’s Coverings edition. If you couldn’t attend the show, we’ve got you covered! Here’s a roundup of the top tile trends we saw at Coverings 2017. We’re sure these trends will dominate this year in the design industry. Take look at what is trending in the tile and stone world!
Long & Narrow
Thin and long, straight laid tiles were all are around. The longer it was, the better it looked. Some were wood-look but others had fun patterns and were even laid in different ways, like herringbone or chevron.
One major trend for 2017 is BIG SLABS! A lot of companies have improved their prints and there is simply more out there: marble and other stone look as well like the onyx or limestone are more popular now. A few companies were showcasing wood looks too, but there is still more stone than wood for now.
These tiles with a linen look were very popular. Most companies showed them in greys and taupes, sometimes in lighter blue, but always making sure it coordinated with their wood porcelain collection. You could almost feel that these were meant to look like wallpaper. Some of them had fun prints and would be a great addition to a kid’s bathroom.
Reclaimed Barn Wood Look (ultra-rustic)
The tile manufacturers have emphasized this look by using different color combinations; even some quite colorful! Looks like this is a trend that is coming out: it would be fun to use as an accent wall, but watch out, it might go out of style soon!
Just like Atlas Concord presented it in their beautiful booth, blue is trending right now. Just last year, we were discovering this trend at Salone Del Mobile Milan 2016, in furnishings and now we find it here at Coverings again, but in a darker, stronger shade.
Exploring the booths at Coverings 2017, we confirmed that there are so many choices our interior designers can use to create beautiful designs. We can’t wait to implement these top tile trends in our upcoming residential projects!
