When visiting an amazing city for the first time, choosing places to visit can be a little difficult especially when you don’t have all the time you wish you had. The top interior design team from DKOR Interiors, recently visited the windy city and can’t wait to share with you our favorite places we had the opportunity to visit.
An ICON! Have you heard about the John Hancock Center? This building has iconic presence in Chicago’s skyline because of its stunning architecture and breathtaking views. Just walking through the lobby you get to enjoy this incredible semi-spherical sculpture in the lobby; the “Lucent” designed by Wolfgang Buttress. Sure this building is a typical tourist attraction but clearly there’s a reason why visitors are making this a “must see.”
The “WOW” factor from this building is definitely the view so we suggest strategically planning your visit during the afternoon where you can enjoy cocktails from the 95th floor and enjoy complete and stunning views of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s downtown in the Signature Room Lounge. We were literally on the top of the city.
Interested in architecture? Our top interior design team also highly recommends taking a tour of Chicago’s original architecture tour by boat. We recommend specifically the Wendella Tours because this tour takes you out to the lake as well. Its about 90 minutes long and you can either enjoy the tour from the upper deck or the in a warm lower deck with a fully equipped bar . Chicago has a rich architectural heritage to enjoy, don’t miss the opportunity to know more about it. Even dealing with the cold weather wasn’t so bad!
Our last favorite spot in Chicago was our visit to millennium park! You’ll find a perfect combination of cool architecture, amazing sculptures and landscape design. We are sure you have heard about “The bean”, here is where you can find it.
We’re glad to have found time to explore and appreciate some of the many things this beautiful city has to enjoy. We were honored to have been representing America’s top interior designers during the Spotlight on Italian Innovation and Sustainability – Design Series 2015 and getting a chance to get to know this beautiful city while representing DKOR Interiors team .
This concludes our blog post series on our visit to Chicago and although we say good bye for now to this beautiful city, Neocon is less than a year away so keep your coats and scarves handy.
