A Teen’s Beachy Boho Bedroom Design
A teen’s bedroom is an important space. It is their sanctuary. It is where they spend a lot of time with friends, doing homework, and figuring out who they want to be when they grow up. Having recently moved from northern Florida, our clients wanted to ensure their daughter had a haven all her own in their new Ft. Lauderdale home.
Our clients came to us with an idea: a beachy boho bedroom fit for their teen. They wanted the room to feel young, fresh, and effortless. We couldn’t wait to get to work and design this special teen’s room.
Our Beachy Boho Bedroom Design Concept
Our design concept is a mostly-neutral space in which mature details, like a streamlined upholstered headboard, mix and mingle with whimsical elements, like a fringed chandelier. It’s the perfect combination of young and sophisticated.
Our color palette of pinkish tans and crisp whites keeps the room’s design light and fresh. Pops of seaworthy blue hues stand out against the neutrals and cement the beachy boho vibes in this teen’s bedroom.
We wanted the space to create that feeling when you walk from the beach back into your boutique beachfront hotel. — Margaret, DKOR’s Creative Director

Our Design in Action
It’s all about balance in this completed room. Our creative designer, notes that the beachy, whimsical fringed chandelier balances out the clean, crisp white headboard from Restoration Hardware, just as the playfulness of the sheepskin butterfly chair evens out the sleekness of a marble-and-brass end table.
Our DKOR Interiors design team selected textures and colors that would help cool down the room, even in the height of the South Florida heat. The Serena & Lily rug, woven with recycled leather, is an elegant take on the beach mat look; it also tones down the modern glossy tiles in this beachy boho bedroom.
Bedroom Details
Our designers particularly fell in love with the combo of the Max Wanger Twins Art Print and the wood tiled nightstand from West Elm. “This totally gave the room that ‘cool’ youthful vibe,” says Margaret.
On the other side of the bed from this adorable vignette is a set of open, floating shelves. They’re perfect for holding treasures and framed photos. We love the drama of the monstera leaf in a petite vase.
As the focal point of any bedroom, the bed sets the scene for the whole space. These eye-catching pillows feature woven textures, fringe, shag, and so much more. The blue bedding, white headboard, and sandy-hued pillows mirror the surf of a Florida beach. All combined, the accessorizing of the bed is just right for a beachy boho bedroom.
Across the room is a vanity of any teenage girl’s dreams. The mini desk is the centerpiece of the look; its front is a cool honeycomb texture. Hung above it is an acrylic mirror from CB2. It offers just a touch of glamour. The cream upholstered chair with brass legs pulls together the whole look, while eucalyptus leaves in a vase ensure the grouping still relates to the beachy boho look of the room.
In a look like this, it’s all in the details. The slightly textured Belgian linen curtains in a crisp white are paired perfectly with jute curtain tiebacks. The jute is a nod to coastal style, but when shaped into a classic tassel, the combo is decidedly sophisticated.
