April is a big month for the interior design industry! Some of the best design events are happening around the world, especially Salone del Mobile Milan 2018. Us DKORistas love to attend these events to keep us inspired and stay up on the latest design trends.
In past years, we’ve taken you along (at least virtually) with us to a very special design show, the leading international design and furnishing event: Salone del Mobile Milan 2018. Year after year, our interior designers, along with more than 300,000 people from over 165 different countries, head to Italy to discover what’s hot in Italian design. Each time, we report back to you our favorite finds.
Salone del Mobile Milan 2018 is more than just a design event for us. We first attended Salone in 2013, and each time since we’ve fallen in love with the experience even more.
Our design team makes the most of each and every trip. Being part of an event like Salone del Mobile 2018 has not only helped us grow into a top interior design firm, but has expanded our roster of vendors, helping to make each of our clients’ homes unique. With more than 2,000 exhibitors, this event allows us to create and maintain strong relationships with high-quality brands around the world.
From April 7th to the 22nd, Milan will be the center of the design world for the 57th edition of Salone del Mobile Milan. Get ready to follow along as we show you our favorite installations, up-to-the-minute design trends sneak peeks, highlights, interior color trends, product crushes, and lots more exciting news.
Like every year, there will be different exhibitions at the Fiera Milano fairgrounds at Rho. But have no fear, we’ve got our (cute) walking shoes packed so we can cover every inch of the show! Here are some of the exhibitions we’re checking out for sure at Milano Design Week 2018:
Salone Salone del Mobile Milan 2018
More than 2,000 exhibitors will be ranged over an exhibition area covering more than 200,000 m2, presenting outstanding products and solutions for contemporary living with an informed eye to the future and which combine design, technology, flexibility, and sustainability.
EuroCucina FTK – Technology For the Kitchen
Now into its 22nd edition, EuroCucina is providing an increasingly targeted and innovative response to the huge interest in the sector, along with FTK – Technology For the Kitchen, its collateral event, specializing in built-in domestic appliances and their evolution.
The key concepts driving the exhibits, showcased by more than 120 companies within an exhibition space measuring around 23,000 square meters, are efficiency and evocation.
International Bathroom Exhibition
The newest of the exhibitions, launched in 2003 as a subsection of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Bathroom Exhibition became an exhibition in its own right in 2006, reflecting the evolution of the domestic bathroom – formerly a strictly functional space – into a dedicated sanctuary for relaxation and wellness.
This year, 228 exhibitors will set up their stands in an area of 20,600 m2, showcasing a huge array of top quality goods catering to the increasingly pressing demand for high-performance products geared to rest and relaxation.
International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition (Classic, Design, xLux)
Now into its 29th edition, the exhibition rounds off the Salone Internazionale del Mobile trade events with a wide variety of products – furnishing accessories, objects, decorative pieces, textiles – and styles, from classic to modern to design.
The international event in the design world dedicated to the under-35s. SaloneSatellite was the first event to focus on young designers, instantly becoming the unrivalled place for interface with manufacturers, talent scouts and the most promising young designers, and since 1998 runs again concurrently with the Salone del Mobile.Milano.
Salone del Mobile Milan 2018 – The manifesto
The 57th edition of the Salone del Mobile promises to be a new starting point. Every new beginning calls for reflection and commitment, to which end the Salone del Mobile.Milano has put together its first ever Manifesto. It is not just an affectionate gesture towards the city and all the actors that have contributed to its success, but is first and foremost a declaration of intent, laying the foundations for a new way of thinking, working as a system and designing.
Living Nature La natura dell’abitare
An emotive installation at the heart of Milan: La natura dell’abitare developed with the Carlo Ratti Associati (CRA) international design and innovation studio, will be in Piazza del Duomo, in front of Palazzo Reale, from 17th to 25th April.
A single 500 square meters space, conceived with energy saving criteria in mind, will contain four natural, climactic microcosms that will enable all four seasons of the year to unfold at precisely the same time, one next to the other. Visitors will be immersed in nature and experience its changes as they make their way through the four different areas: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.
