The Natural Materials Trend: Chairs Edition
As interior designers, we’ve always got our eyes on the design trends. Some we love, and some we wish would pass by in a flash. But right now, we’re obsessing over the natural materials trend we saw in all of the Italian designers’ showrooms at Salone del Mobile 2017 in Milan, Italy.
We love that natural materials trend so much, that when we started brainstorming the design for our Bal Harbour condo project, we immediately pictured chairs with modern lines but finished with natural materials pulled up to a table in the home’s breakfast nook.
The client has an eclectic style, and the decor in their home is curated from their travels. So we knew that including natural materials, like leather, linen, and wicker, and woven textures in the furniture selections would tie perfectly into the home’s aesthetic.
Next, we set off to find budget-friendly chairs that fit the bill. We weren’t specific on color or finish. Instead, we were looking for beautiful, on-trend chairs that would complement the rest of our design. See our favorites:
Five Favorite Chairs
This chair’s intricately woven seat and natural wood finish offers a laid-back eclectic boho vibe. The mid-century modern shape ensures it stays sophisticated.
While very similar in shape to the Fes Arm Chair, this chair’s classic polished walnut finish and sleek faux leather seat offers a much more refined tone.
Traditional with a modern twist, this understated barrel-style chair’s modern shape is juxtaposed with the wood’s cherry finish. The linen seat brings in the natural elements trend.
Just as at home pulled up to a modern pedestal table as a distressed farmhouse table, this quintessential mid-century modern chair is given a twist with the addition of a woven cord seat.
A beautiful, dark version of the Fes chair, the Arvada lends a mature and elegant touch to any space. The woven seat keeps the chair from feeling too serious.
