Homes with Art: Condo with Breathtaking Art Installation

Art has a special way of infusing a home with character, personality, and energy. There are many benefits to decorating with art, from highlighting the home’s color palette to offering a touch of uniqueness. Homes with art always have a lot of character and individuality.

There are unlimited ways to showcase an art installation when incorporating it into a home’s decor. It’s hard to choose a favorite, because there is no “right” or “wrong” way to use art to complement a design scheme and make a unique statement.

When we work with our clients to create their dream homes, we always discuss the topic of art early on in the process. How we select art differs for each individual project. Some clients are collectors, and already have the pieces they want to incorporate into the design, while others need our team to guide them in curating a special look just for their home.

ENTRY FOYER WITH ART INSTALLATION

Our recent interior design project at the Turnberry Ocean Club residences in Sunny Isles, FL is a great example of the importance of art as part of a design scheme and interior design process. For this particular project, we created an entire room around a specific art installation. Here is the story behind the design of the entry foyer of this condo interior revamp.

To kick off this design project, we visited the condo unit to take a look at its existing condition. Our design team immediately noticed that there was a large open space at the entrance to the apartment. As a result, our interior designers proposed a new floor plan that included a division between the foyer area and family room.

Because our clients wanted their art collection to blend in with the design, our team examined their individual pieces to get some inspiration. They came up with the idea of separating the two spaces in a creative and harmonious way by adding a divider wall to the open space connecting the foyer with the family room.

The client was preferential to a beautiful art sculpture by John A. Peralta, so we designed the wall around that particular piece of art.

THE MOOD

Our goal was to use the color scheme in the entry foyer to introduce the overall design concept for the entire Turnberry Sunny Isles condo design project. As soon as you enter, the natural textures, earthy vibe and gray/blue color palette catch your eye.

Our designers incorporated wood to add warmth, and a teal/blue cork wallcovering on both vertical sides to highlight the art installation. We also chose a camel-colored leather-and-wood console. We kept the rest of the walls neutral by using a very light overall wallcovering. Our goal was to make the wall appear as if it was floating, so we added a dark wood platform that wrapped around its perimeter.

The installation piece aligned perfectly with our design concept, “Treasures of the Sea”. Theodolite, 2021 by the artist John A. Peralta is an astonishing sculpture that incorporates iconic mechanical objects and high-tech materials. The artist’s work examines the emotional relationship that develops between us and the machines we use on a regular basis.
