It’s a wrap on another DKOR interior residential project.  The design team accomplished another stunning contemporary design for a Venezuelan family making Miami their new home.  Let’s look back on the the inspiration behind this DKORate project and the details shared by the designer’s that transformed the interior spaces of this Miami residence.

The goal of this interior residential project was to incorporate some of the family’s beloved existing art and furnishings into the main interior spaces and bedrooms of their home.  While keeping the spaces functional and aesthetically pleasing, interior designers used the addition of modern carpentry, designer furnishings, and elegant details that highlighted the family’s treasured artifacts and the homes architectural features.

The design inspiration, Medanos de Coro was the guide designer’s referred to throughout the process, and represents gathering elements from past to present.  Designer’s sought to find balance in mixing the family’s past treasured artifacts with present and modern furnishings. This can often present a challenge to interior designers looking to give old items new life and re-purposing them in new or more functional ways.

DKOR’s interior designers first placed the existing furniture appropriately into the new furniture plan and then focused on integrating the family’s unique art collection of  Venezuelan artists, into the homes main living spaces. The unique collection took center stage for the formal living and dining spaces.  Planning for the placement of these large pieces with bold colors was important for the next step of unifying the color palette.

Neutral tones complimented by strong pops of color is the color scheme that was blended throughout the residences two-story interior spaces.  New designer furniture, like the Minotti White Sofa, and custom carpentry were selected in neutral hues to compliment the bold color in the art collection.  While in the bedroom spaces that method was reversed with furnishings in bold hues amplified in a color blocking technique with neutral accents and bedding that gave each bedroom fun personalization.

Below we are sharing some pictures that show off key moments during the design process of this Miami interior residential project:
