From the master to a shared boys’ space, the bedrooms in our Bal Harbour modern wonderland are one of a kind and fit their occupants to a T. The parents get a more sophisticated look, the little girl of the family gets a room fit for a princess, and the boys’ rooms are bursting at the seams with creativity.
Two weeks ago we showed you the kids’ playroom—a whimsical space that allows the imaginations to run wild—and these rooms are no different. Get ready for your tour of these four fantastic bedrooms.
A bit more subdued than the rest of the house, which is awash in color, this bedroom is a sanctuary for Mom and Dad to relax at the end of the day. But don’t let the muted color palette fool you, no design stone has been left unturned.
Modern and traditional collide on the wall behind the bed: A wallcovering mimics of-the-moment hexagonal cement tile, while a baroque-patterned fabric is upholstered on the headboard. Blue is the accent color in here, lending a sense of peace, harmony, and security to the parents of this young family. A bit of whimsy is infused into this space through a furry bench placed at the foot of the bed and a piece of art offering daily inspiration.
With warm pink hues dominating the space, there’s no way this little girl’s room could be filled with anything other than love and compassion (the emotions tied to pink in color theory). There’s plenty of room for playtime here: Perfect for coloring, painting, and much more, a table sits in the center of the room, and a dress-up vanity lets the family’s only daughter feel like a star.
As in other rooms, wallpaper lends an excess of personality to the design. In this bedroom, a girly butterfly pattern creates a focal point, while diamond-shaped molding lends a maturity that can grow with the little one.
Boy’s Shared Bedroom
This kid shared space has a modern metropolis-meets-athletics look, thanks to wallpaper featuring city rooftops and faux grass under the pair of bunk beds. From trophies to framed mementoes, sports memorabilia adorns the walls and shelves, while a color palette dominated by greens lends generosity, health, and luck to the feeling of the room.
Across from the beds, which can sleep up to four, is a desk made perfect for studying with a task lamp and lots of storage. The workspace is constructed of Ikea pieces—we love this budget-friendly hack for creating the look of custom cabinetry without the pricetag.
Perfect for a growing boy, this bedroom has an industrial, street-art vibe, from the steamer trunk-style furniture to the neon light over the bed. Psychedelic marbled wallpaper covers the ceiling for a funky, out-of-the-box touch, while whitewashed faux brick wallpaper adorns one wall to create an urban loft look.
Custom wall art begs the room’s inhabitant to follow their dreams, and the main color in the room—blue—offers harmony and security. We love the fun spray paint-inspired piece of art the mom of the house found. It fits perfectly into the space!
