Play in Style: Creative Pool Table Room Ideas
With hobby rooms on the rise, our DKORistas are pros at designing everything from luxury exercise areas to funky craft corners. Our latest decorating project in Florida was a fun remodel of a billiards room where we built upon preexisting architectural details to bring to life our clients’ pool table room ideas.
Using a bold pop of colors, polished wood elements, and a striking arched entryway, the project is more decorative than structural, proving that you don’t need to start from scratch to get a whole new look!
To create a welcoming contrast with the rest of the home, which is filled with airy neutrals, we used rich, mid-century modern hues like mustard, burnt orange, and dark teal. Clever artwork provides a focal point while also indicating that this room doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is foremost a space of enjoyment for our clients and their guests.
POOL TABLE ROOM IDEAS – BEFORE PHOTOS
Previously, the pool table room featured light cream walls with pink undertones as well as dated chairs and light fixtures. We wanted to bring this billiards room into the 21st century while still keeping to our clients’ more traditional tastes.
To do this, we left the wainscoting and focused on painting rich hues throughout the space along with mid-century modern-inspired furniture. Our revamp breathes new life into the room, transforming it from old school to fresh and welcoming.
This archway is a beautiful architectural detail that we preserved in our remodel. As the main entrance to the billiards room, it’s like a mesmerizing gateway that welcomes guests to step into a special place.
POOL TABLE ROOM IDEA BY DKOR
Previously, the room felt outdated, burdened by antiquities that made it feel stuffy and weighed down. While these had to go, there are some incredible architectural details that we wanted to keep. For example, we loved the gorgeous mahogany wood bar, which perfectly matches the base of the pool table.
Through strategic alterations in color and accent pieces, the room’s overall ambiance has been completely revitalized. From this perspective, you can see how we’ve harmonized the hues of the walls, the pool table top, and the rug using complementary shades of blue and gray. These colors evoke a contemporary elegance. The lighting has also undergone a modernization, as sleek and playful fixtures now illuminate the space.
The arched entrance from the family room to the billiards room is like a magical doorway that invites guests to wander through to enjoy their afternoon. Since it’s right next to the main living room, the billiards room needed to be visually pleasing and functional.
COLOR PALETTE
Upon setting foot inside the billiards room, the world of play immediately whisks you away. Drawing inspiration from conventional pool table room ideas, we embraced a masculine color palette and emphasized the richness of the wood.
However, we infused the space with contemporary enhancements, such as mid-century modern seating and delicate sheer drapes, ensuring a lightness and timeless appeal.
PLAYFUL TOUCHES
Keeping watch to make sure no one cheats: a trusty bulldog dressed in his finest. We wanted the art for this room to be fun and whimsical, rather than stuffy or serious.
The delicate central light fixture provides plenty of illumination for late-night gaming, while also adding an airy quality to the room. Unlike the old one, the current chandelier features lights that seemingly hover like graceful hang-gliders above the table. Resembling a Calder mobile, they introduce a delightful artistic flair, elevating the room’s aesthetic.
We used opulent materials, such as velvet, to elevate the space and make it feel more luxurious. The fine materials pair beautifully with the pre-existing dark wood details throughout the room.
A cool corner stand keeps the pool cues accessible and neatly stored. Complementing this organizational element, a minimalist, contemporary sconce provides illumination.
We wanted all the wood details, from the bar to the floors to be polished to perfection. The reflectiveness gives a luxe quality that really makes you feel like you are somewhere special.
Sometimes adding a fresh feel to a room can be as simple as decorating the bar in a different way. Here, we decorated our clients’ existing bar with books, vases, and trinkets that show their personalities.
We hope that these home billiard room ideas have captivated your imagination and left you inspired to breathe new life into your own personal space. For more creative hobby room ideas, visit this link!
