A Modern Office and Guest Room Combo Design Idea
At the Sabbia Beach condos, a luxury oceanfront property in Pompano Beach, our DKORistas helped to create an edgy yet sophisticated retreat for our rock-and-roll loving clients. By utilizing bold, jewel-toned colors, shiny, chunky metal accents, and layered textures, the clients’ love for this music genre came through in a way that feels authentically them. We’ve already detailed the home’s design concept, the media room, and the feminine, equestrian-themed girls’ bedroom, and now, we want to present the final look of the office and guest room combo.
This space needed to serve a dual purpose — as an area where the couple could easily work from home, as well as a room for guests to rest their heads.
Before we show you the after, take a look at the elements our DKORistas — some of the best, most talented interior designers in Pompano Beach — dreamt up for this space.
Design Intent – Office and Guest Room Combo
Office and Guest Room Combo — Final Look
The result of this office and guest room combo was an innovative and modern design that gives the clients the best of both worlds.
To start, our DKORistas picked a beautifully rich teal color for the walls. The clients wanted a room that was bright and happy for their guests and while they worked, and this color does the job — it’s elegant while also bringing a sense of vibrancy to the space.
The true challenge with this guest bedroom office combo idea was making the room feel like a bedroom and an office without it feeling cold. We added greenery and personal photographs — including the gallery wall — to add that touch and a bit of personality.
One of our favorite tips for creating a gallery wall is to plan your composition beforehand. We normally display the frames on the floor and decide which pictures are best to show and in what order.
For their guests, the clients needed a bed, so we chose a Murphy bed. This was an excellent selection as when it’s not in use, it becomes a decorative wall. The bed easily fits into the room, while still giving the clients and their guests enough space to move around when it’s not in use.
For the floor, a circular rug was selected to break up the shapes in this office and bedroom combo. With a rectangular desk and Murphy bed, the circular form feels organic and perfectly balanced in the design. The chair chosen from Mitchell Gold Bob Williams gives a modern and funky look to the room with its black velvet fabric and acrylic back. Decorative accessories put the finishing touches on the space. The clients’ favorite colors are red and blue so we made sure to include them in these selections.
