Dkor visits Italy: Spotting the trends on the opening day of the Cersaie International Exhibition
Buongiorno! Your favorite Miami Interior design firm is taking you to Italy!!
We’ve made it just in time for the opening day of Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings hosted in Bologna, Italy. You could feel the excitement from booth to booth as manufacturers shared the new collections. One of the things I enjoy most about these expositions in Italy is the pride that each company takes in preparing their booth. The creativity that goes into each display and their innovative ways they install the new materials they are presenting is absolutely amazing!
This year we’ve taken notice of the exciting trends in vintage styling, geometric patterns, marble porcelains, and ceramic wood planks that are being introduced by the exhibitors at Cersaie.
VINTAGE TRENDS – Even with the contemporary lines you could feel a sense of tradition and nostalgia in some of the ceramics presented. These ceramics are shown with organic and geometric patterns and colors that promote a sense of home that is reflected in vintage styling. At DKOR we’ve been resorting to fashion for inspiration and this trend clearly is doing the same. It was nice to see we’re so in tune with what’s happening in the industry and our blog campaign coming soon with Neiman Marcus is exactly what these companies are doing for inspiration in colors trends and textures.
TRENDS IN GEOMETRICAL SHAPES – We saw a glimpse of the hexagon trend in this years Coverings Exhibit in Chicagao but here in Italy the trending shape is making a big appearance. Different companies shared unique color combinations and sizes and introduced the matte charcoal as “the new white”. These new shapes and patterns act as building blocks for designers to push our creativity and create our own montage or tapestry. Grout lines and ceramic cuts also give us further opportunities to develop the design.
Trends in Marble Porcelains- This is one of my favorite trends because of the variety of beautiful options that make you look twice before assuming it’s a ceramic. They are becoming more available in larger sizes and patterns, with richer pigmentation. With dozens of pattern repeats it is easy to avoid having two of the same pattern next to each other. Porcelain marbles offer the luxurious feeling that natural stone provides without digging up a mountain.
Dkor’s favorite trend in ceramic tiles is the look and style of wood porcelains and at the Cersaie exhibit we saw sought out the booths displaying these tiles for more inspiration and education on our favorite product! Check out the new bigger and better format and textures we spotted.
We still have a few more days that we are spending here at the Cersaie Exhibition and have so much more to share with you.
