It’s interior design trends season! The largest tile and stone trade show in North America, Coverings 2016, took place April 18th-21st at Chicago’s McCormick center. Our top interior designers headed one more time to the Windy City to catch the latest products from more than 1,000 global exhibitors and discover the new interior design trends.
As a leading interior design firm, we know the value of continuing education and seeing the new trends coming out. We were super excited to get to up close with the most innovative tile and stone products in the world that were showcased at this important week long trade fair.
Tiles and stone are used in every DKOR interior design project developed. Our teams of designers are very familiar with the variety of selections available in tile and stone. The designers are eager to incorporate all the new products seen at the show in several of our upcoming residential interior projects.
Let’s share with you the latest interior design trends! Here are our favorite findings of what 2016 has for tile and stone.
PORCELAIN WOODS
We love using porcelain tiles that have a wood–like texture or style. They combine the strength of porcelain with the warmth of wood. This current interior design trend is now coming in different sizes and formats and the qualities, colors, and selections are getting better every year.
THREE DIMENSIONAL TILES
Three dimensional tiles blended into flat tiles prevailed around this year’s booths and exhibitors. The dimensional tiles make a statement and focal point wall more interesting than color or flat texture alone.
OUR FAVORITE BOOTHS
There were two booths that caught our attention. After seeing hundreds of vendor booths, products can start to blend together, but keeping creative booth designs and using appropriately matched lighting on the products help showcase their newest products in an innovative and impressive way. Here are the most eye catching booths from this year’s exhibit.
We are always on the lookout for emerging products and trends in order to bring an innovative interior design service. DKOR team is grateful for the invitation to attend Coverings 2016. This year the sponsors were Ceramics of Italy, Tile of Spain, Tile Council of North America, Ceramic Tile Distributor Association and National Tile Contractor Association. Our visit to Chicago was an opportunity to get up to date with the design community and connect with other design professionals that promote our industry.
Paired with the opening night celebration, the CID Awards celebrated outstanding achievements in the design and installation of tile and stone in both residential and commercial projects. We are pleased to announce that DKOR interiors has been awarded again this year in the category, Residential Tile Design.
