Salone del Mobile 2022 Color Trends: And the Winner is Green

Earlier this month, our Miami-based interior design team was fortunate to attend Salone del Mobile 2022, the world’s largest furniture design fair, in Milan, Italy. We couldn’t be more excited about going back to this major international design event!

It was the first time the fair returned to its original venue at Rho Fiera Milano since the start of the COVID pandemic. This year also marked the fair’s 60th anniversary.

There is no doubt that the success of this year’s show was due to the desire of the international design community to once again have the opportunity to come together to exchange ideas and inspiration.

Salone del Mobile never disappoints. This year, our Miami interior design team came home brimming with inspiration, new connections, and the lowdown on the latest design trends. And we’re going to share our take-aways with you!

SALONE DEL MOBILE 2022 – COLOR TRENDS

In this article, we focus on the color trends spotted at Salone del Mobile 2022. There was clearly one winner: green! We noticed various shades of green everywhere – in bathrooms, kitchens, furniture, and accessories.

Here are some of our favorite applications of green at this year’s edition of the Salone del Mobile.

THE BATHROOM

As someone who loves green marble, I was happy to see this color integrated into kitchen and bathroom designs. I believe the key to the successful use of green in these types of spaces is as an accent for a timeless design. Take a look at this example at Azurra’s booth.

THE KITCHEN

A pop of color can influence the mood and feel of any interior. Designers often use colors in the kitchen to give this heart-of-the-home space a unique and interesting look. This year, green is being used to create stunning accents in kitchen design. As we visited Salone del Mobile 2022’s booths, we saw this shade incorporated not only into cabinets but also into key elements. For example, the kitchen countertop shown in the photo below.

MAKING AN IMPACT WITH GREEN DESIGN FEATURES

We witnessed this trend at Minotti, one of our favorite Italian brands: green was displayed not only in furniture pieces, but also in design features such as the bookcase frame below.

OUTDOOR FURNITURE

It’s no surprise that outdoor spaces remain more important than ever. This was proven by the fair’s outdoor collections displays. It was quite evident that furniture brands are adapting their lines to include the color green in their pieces to enhance the indoor/outdoor connection.  Green was everywhere in outdoor furniture. Of the thousands of pieces we saw, our favorite was this one, showing chair backs finished in a hunter green.

ACCENT FURNITURE

The color green makes a compelling statement in any space. We saw many furniture companies incorporating shades of green into accent pieces, such as this dining table by Porada, featuring a stunning marble top, and a green bookcase by Bonaldo.
