Modern and Colorful Home Design for a Miami Home
Although we love a home design full of good neutrals, there’s something about a colorful house that pulls us in. Our latest decorating project in Miami allowed us to maximize our creativity as our clients were seeking a clean, yet playful and colorful house interior.
This young family of five enlisted our DKORistas to help them decorate the common areas and bedrooms of their new home. They’ve lived all over the world — from Europe to Africa to Asia — and wanted their new home in Miami to be a reflection of their cultural experiences as a family. This means fun and bold spaces — these clients are not afraid of color and a funky, unique concept that really felt like “them” was a necessity!
Home Design Elements
Our design team decided on a “color blocking” concept, choosing a set of colors for each room and using them in an impactful way.
The Common Areas
For the common areas and master bedroom, a palette of forest green, mustard yellow, teal, and grey provides a warm and luxurious feel while giving the clients the graphic look they were going for. Beautiful, soft textures like marble, glass, and wood are incorporated to provide dimension to the design but do not compete with or overpower the bold color choices.
The Foyer
In the foyer, rich neutrals like gray and beige play off of each other to create a serene yet dimensional entrance. From the moment someone steps inside this residence, they’ll feel enveloped in a warm embrace.
The Dining Room
In the dining room, neutrals plus an accent of forest green create a space where family and friends will love to comfortably gather. A textured wallcovering in multiple shades of beige combines with wood flooring and geometric accents for a multi-dimensional design that plays off of the color-blocking theme.
The Living Room
Our love of layering textures comes through in this home’s living room design. Luscious upholstery in creams and mustard yellows combine with black and gold accents create a comfortable room that will still give our clients the worldly feel they desire.
The Bedrooms
Our team is working on the bedrooms of this home design, too. We’ll share more details of these designs on our next post. Meanwhile, a sneak peek of the colors and materials we are using to create dream spaces for the entire family:
In the master bedroom, again, a palette of interesting neutrals pushes home the color-blocking theme. Unique graphic wallpaper is the star of the show. Black and wood accents with tactile accessories tie everything together and create a throughline to the rest of the home’s design.
For the kids’ spaces, bright color and fun patterns will steal the show. In the boy’s bedroom, accent colors like tangerine and turquoise pop against black and white patterned elements. For the two girls’ bedrooms, soft pastels like pink and purple are made glamorous with golden accents and plush textures. Additionally, our designers are creating a fun kids’ den where the kids will play and create. Mustard yellow, navy and red are the colors selected for this special den.
Check back soon as we work our way through the home design plan , room by room. We love a colorful house, and this one does not disappoint!
